CYM Men's Rugby Team
2017 - 2018

Kev Carty
Captain 2017/2018
From: Dublin
Position: Backrow/ Hooker
Fun Fact: A.K.A. Manbaby; Kevin may be the next step in human evolution, only time will tell. All we care about is that his hairless legs allow him to keep him dominating rucks and smashing ballcarriers for 80 minutes.

John 'JT' Twomey
From: Kerry
Position: Second Row/ Backrow
Fun Fact: The break out season last year belonged to JT, fueled by his new physique. In an attempt to steal some of his girlfriend's attention back from their new dog he hit the gym harder than ever and if she doesn't appreciate his God-like body his team certainly do.

Daragh McCauley
From: Dublin
Position: Second Row
Fun Fact: Resident documentarian and the film prodigy through whom we glimpse the seedy underbelly of Hollywood. At 6 foot something and weighing a gentleman's 75kg there's always going to be some use for him on the pitch.

Luke Duffy
From : Dublin
Position: Full Back/ Scrum Half
Fun Fact: Long-standing CYM fullback, Luke Duffy's most recent contribution to CYM was a two session dalliance with yoga during pre-season. If the forwards didn't have a low opinion of the back three before this they certainly do now.

Brian 'Bourkey' Bourke

Adam 'Lynchy' Lynch
From: Dublin
Position: Outhalf/Center
Fun Fact: The posterboy for Monogamy Ireland, his multi-faceted play stands in stark contrast to his personal life. Winning player of the year and other awards with the club he has come back for more this year with a silver-lust that cannot be satisfied.

Kelan Daly
From: Meath
Position: Centre/ Outhalf
Fun Fact: Player/Manager, Kelan is the proud purveyor of CYM's most cultured kicking boot. Slotting penalties from all over the park he has also added tackling to his repertoire over the past couple of years. If we could add passing or some other rudimentary elements to his game he would be a fine player indeed.

John 'Johnway' Conway
From: Dublin
Position: Center / Full Back
Fun Fact: Utility back and Coach's right hand man. In spite of his injuries he remains a stalwart of the team. Marked out early in his CYM career for his talent and pace he has yet to emerge from his younger brother's shadow in regard to rugby, his career or his parent's general ranking of their children.

Yann Du Bot
From: France
Position: Centre/ Wing
Fun Fact: Italian speaker, occasional moustache wearer, harmonica player and all the other things one pictures in a Frenchman. Yann is all and more. An exquisite dancer with a heart of gold, his only notable weakness to emerge during his time in Ireland is train tracks and how they interact with bicycle wheels.

Damien 'Damo' King
From: Kilkenny
Position: Wing/ Fullback
Fun Fact: The resident academic of CYM and chief interceptor of opposition passes. Damo runs a computer lab full of science in DCU where he has all manner of automatons doing fancy calculations, and yet he's never at training on time.

Bernard Murray
From: Tipperary
Position: Centre
Fun Fact: The team veteran still standing since a time when jerseys weren't skin tight and gumshields were frowned upon. He has maintained his form and fitness all these years besting the ageing process, however now he must convince his wife to let him play one more year.

Thomas Walsh
From: Dublin
Position: Scrumhalf/ Wing/ Fullback
Funfact: Thomas can play all across the backline and when in form can score almost at will. Similarly he awards his much coveted lad points at a whim. With a tan to die for he belongs in any CYM starting 15.

James 'Jamesy' Harding
From: Dublin
Position: Prop/ Hooker
Fun Fact: They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, James' current loan deal to New Zealand has taught us otherwise. His phobia of astro turf coupled with an alarming need for coach's approval were not missed over the past few months. That being said he is still the only man to have eaten the entire EuroSaver menu in one sitting #BringHimHome.

Blayne Keogh
From: Dublin
Position: Backrow
Fun Fact: In the gladiatorial machismo environment that is metro rugby the efforts of wide players often go underappreciated, that was until Blayne played wing for a game. Blayne has bulked up considerably for this season, which will surely tell on the pitch but more importantly perhaps he can challenge one of the ladies team to a re-match of the fabled arm-wrestle from last year.

Luis Duran
From: Spain
Position: Centre
Fun Fact: The mastermind behind the recruitment of CYM's current crop of players. His signature blend of house parties and free drink has wooed many a man and woman to his bidding. His finishing of tries on the other hand leaves something to be desired, namely an understanding of the deadball line.

Miro
From: Slovakia
Position: Second Row
Fun Fact: Playing rugby for the first time last year he quickly adapted from his usual sport of Wakeboarding. His novice skill set was well bolstered by the self-confidence garnered from driving a ladies moped.

Aaron Robinson
From: Newcastle
Position: Prop
Fun Fact: Skill, speed, and deft handling are all words that can be associated with Aaron. Unfortunately, he has yet to bring these abilities to the pitch but it's in the bar where these talents truly shine. Watching him get served, finished, and then back for seconds in under a minute is truly an awesome sight to behold.

Jonathon 'Mouth of the South' Tebbs
From: Frimley
Position: Centre, Out Half
Having been convinced to come down by work colleague, Adam Lynch, Jonathon very quickly took to the club and now has his eyes on Adam's 'Loudest Man Around' award. Ear plugs will be provided at training.

Joshua 'The Young' Lynch;
From: Dublin
Position: Flanker
Brother to Adam, Josh had lots to live up to at arrival to the club but endeared himself straight away to the CYM faithful by scoring a try on debut and then calling out the referee and three Coolmine players to the carpark 'to sort this out'. He was soon substituted.

James 'The Hair' Buckley
From: Dublin
Position: Hooker
No hooker since Dmitri Szarzewski has garnered so much attention for their coiffure. Also like his French counterpart, James likes to do the occasional tastefully nude photoshoot, almost all of which are for legitimate websites

Fiachra 'Swaz' Cunningham
From: Cork
Position: Prop
Has played with Coach Neville since he was just Unused Sub Neville, Fiachra has seen it all. Is currently putting his love of stirring crap to good work with a
job in water sanitation.

Brian 'John Eales' Warde:
Position: Second Row
Another work colleague of Adam Lynch, this is Brian's first experience with rugby and he has taken to it like a duck to water. No highlights video is complete without a clip of Brian collecting a kick off and going round wingers with ease. He has even brought his GAA background to the fore by taking a few conversions, some of which have even gone over.

Adam Murphy
From: Waterford
Position: (Unexpected) Flanker
Adam's introduction to CYM was delayed several weeks due to injury and was given a baptism of fire at a particularly intense training session, where he took several balls to the face while trying to figure out what lines to run. Thankfully, Adam has stuck around and is now able to catch most balls with his hands.

David McMahon
Position: Winger, Full Back
Dave showed great promise in preseason, being the only person who turned up fit helped, but a dislocated collarbone, achieved in a football match, has delayed his debut.

Pierre Allavene
From: France
Position: Scrum Half
In the beginning, Pierre was just an unremarkable Frenchman, good looking, suave, about to steal your girl, then Movember happened. Turning up to training with a moustache that would have warranted a call to the guards on a lesser man, Pierre has worn it with the panache expected from a man who once threw a miss pass over four people.

Seamus Humphreys
From: Limerick
Position: Scrum Half
Despite living over the wall from CYM, Seamus didn't realise that there was a rugby club so close to him and it wasn't till mid September that he joined us. Seamus reassures us that the fact that this time just so happened to be the end of preseason was merely coincidence.

Will "The Second Coming" Parkinson
From: Dublin
Position: Winger, Scrum Half, Flanker
This is Will's second time with CYM, punctuated by a two year jaunt in Australia, where Will has honed his ability to be the everyman that all teams need. You want a flanker, he's your man. A touch judge? Will can do it. Hanging out with the lads without his girlfriend permission? Not a hope.

Aaron Duffy
From: Dublin
Position: Winger
The younger brother of Luke, Aaron had a brief daliance with CYM a few years ago before jetting off to the sunnier climes of Canada. Returning this year, Aaron has brought back many things from his trip, life experience, a girlfriend, a terrific goatee, but most importantly for CYM, a devastating right shoulder that unfortunately is marked "one use only".

Gary O' Flynn
From: Cork
Position: Winger, Full Back
A newbie to the game of rugby, Gary's eyes were literally opened to the many benefits of rugby, when a stray stud caught him in the face at training and sliced his eyelid. A few steristrips later, Gary was back playing and now, unburdened by the fear of "What's the worst that could happen?", is launching himself into tackles with the fearlessness of a man who can't see the size of the opposition.

Briac Bombrun
From: France
Position: Winger
The third of CYM's French foreign legion, Briac was the most recent convert. His first training session was memorable for several extended periods of him lying motionless on the ground while trying to get his breath back. Thankfully, his fitness has since improved enough that he can score the occasional try and return to his resting place on the wing without collapsing.

Alistair 'The Ginger Giant' Rooney
From: Dublin
Position: Sick bay
Ali is a man of impressive stature and strength, just ask the ceiling that caved in when he stood on it or the ladder the crushed his thumb when he yanked it open too hard. Unfortunately, due to his habit of hurting himself, Ali has only donned the CYM colours once so far but with the combination of his rampaging runs and a voice deeper than the Grand Canyon, it left a big impression. His return is eagerly anticipated

Dave Quinn
From: Your Dreams
Position: Whatever you like
Dave bestrode CYM like a colossus for two glorious seasons. A tackling, offloading, free running, drop goal taking, punchline making, broken legged hand holding, scrum destroying Renaissance man who likes to dabble in Photoshop. The hole he left in the club is a large one and the quest to fill Dave's hole will go on and on.

Shane Byrne
From: Wickla
Position: Beardy Flanker/ Scrumhalf
The Hooch to Dave's Turner, Robin to his Batman, Patrick to his Spongebob, Shane has been an everpresent at the club whenever Dave is around. Making a name for himself by being able to switch from a delicate scrum half to a hard hitting flanker and for single handedly destroying Lachlan's accent everytime they hang out, it's always a joyous occasion whenever Shane decides to bless Terenure with his presence.

Mark 'The Shark' Hamill
From: Louth
Position: Prop, Flanker
Coming from a land far, far away, this is Mark's first year playing rugby. The boy has talent but has a temper like his father and has come to be trained in the ways of the front row by the veteran Coach Neville. The front row is strong with this one and we're hoping that he's able to harness those powers for good and force his way into the first team.

Joe 'Apollo' Furey
From: Dublin
Position: Back Row
Joe loves two things in life, floral shirts and just. Hitting. Lads. In CYM, he has found a place for the latter but is still waiting for acceptance of the former. The Furey can usually be heard long before he is seen, be it on the pitch or the loudness of his various shirt and white trousers combos.

Ian Skuse
From: Cork
Position: Centre
Ian made his first appearance at the club in early October, leaving him behind on calls, fitness and a few running jokes. This became most apparent when he set up McCauley in the Madden final for his first try in several years thereby bringing to an end CYM's easiest punchline. It's a testament to his likeability that he has made it past this rocky phase of his CYM career.

Lachlan Hall
Captain 2016-2017
From: Dublin
Position: Prop/ Second Row
Fun Fact: Captain Fantastic, also known as the Big Show or Bonecrusher Hall. Nothing can stop Lachlan when he gets going, even a team mate's leg. Our emotional leader, last to leave the field and the bar. Lachlan sadly retired from rugby at the end of the 2016/2017 season. However, even the Spice Girls had a reunion tour, so we'll hold his place here just in case...

Brian 'Bourkey' Bourke
From: Dublin (The City of Rathmines)
Position: Wing
Fun Fact: The heart and soul of CYM rugby club. Whenever a match is lost we can all forget about our own mistakes and usually falsify memories of some handling error from Brian which would then explain why we actually lost somehow.

Kelan Daly
From: Meath

An exquisite dancer with a heart of gold, his only notable weakness to emerge during his time in Ireland is train tracks and how they interact with bicycle wheels.

Damien 'Damo' King
