EDENDERRY vs CYM

February 9th, 2018

Final Score: Mullingar 21 - 19 CYM

It was the last Leinster Women's Rugby Division 1  league game of the season for our senior ladies today. Unfortunately not the result we had hoped for, but we are proud of our team regardless of the outcome. We now look forward to our first cup outing on March 25th vs Garda/Westmanstown!

CYM vs RATHDRUM RFC

January 28th, 2018

Final Score: Edenderry 24 - 0 CYM

Unfortunately it wasn't to be for our Firsts last night against a tough Edenderry outfit. In what has been a difficult season moving up and adjusting in Division 1, there has also been so many positives to take from the year. A whole host of new girls taking up the game. A raft of new caps into our first 15. Our first ever 2nds team holding their own in Division 4. The signs are very bright for the future of CYM.

As a club and as a large squad that is constantly growing, CYM will be determined to take everything from the experiences gained and bring this forward into the Cup run and even more so into next season. #HonTheY

ST. MARYS RFC vs CYM

December 13th, 2017

Final Score: St. Marys 27 - 12 CYM

Gail force winds, freezing rain, hail stones, and minus freezing temperatures weren't the only things our CYM side had to face this past Wednesday night. With unfortunate luck, the Marys vs CYM refixture took place on undoubtedly one of the coldest nights in December. The mood of the day was 'Get stuck in, play hard, go home', and that's exactly what both sides did.

CYM fought hard to break through a strong Mary's line, and were successful in dotting down over the line. Strong winds made conversions difficult, forcing the majority of the points to be gained solely on the ground. Mary's utilized a few of their key players to target CYM's defence, and doing so ensured they came out the stronger team in the end.

We'd like to wish Erin Moorhead a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing everyone back on the pitch in 2018.

CYM RFC vs Old Belvedere J2s

December 3rd, 2017

Final Score: CYM 0 - 41 Old Belvo J2s

CYM Division 1 Ladies welcomed Old Belvo J2s to Terenure Sports Club this Sunday for their second last match of 2017. Having faced Old Belvo in what was an excellent match earlier in the season, CYM looked forward to facing the J2s again at home at Terenure Sports Club.

Belvo's strong defence made breaking through their line incredibly difficult. Any opportunity grasped by CYM to make a break was shut down, and turnovers left the home team at a repeated disadvantage. Despite this, CYM worked incredibly hard to break apart Old Belvo's attacks and tackles were made without any fear. Unfortunately, loss of key players to injury and a thinned out substitution bench meant that CYM had an uphill battle before the game had even begun. This didn't deter CYM from making great efforts during the match, and as is often the case in this game, the work of the team is not reflected in the final score.

CYM RFC vs Railway Union RFC

November 19th, 2017

Final Score: CYM 5 - 8 Railway Union RFC

CYM RFC vs Mullingar RFC

November 12th, 2017

Final Score: CYM 12 - 12 Mullingar

CYM Division 1 Ladies welcomed Mullingar RFC to Terenure Sports Club this past Sunday. The ladies were confident taking to the pitch at home, and the efforts of hard training the week before set the pace for the game ahead. Although Mullingar had strong runners and powerful centers in their fleet, it was CYM's overall strong defense and coordinated forward pack that helped to keep the score close. Both teams managed to cross the whitewash in the first half, but it was Mullingar who were quick to a get a second try after the start of the second half.

Knowing the battle was only half over, CYM switched up their tactics. Having learned a hard lesson from the St. Mary's game earlier in the season, CYM have worked hard to improve their scrums, and the results were clearly visible in this game. Scrum after scrum, the Y got lower, pushed harder, and drove Mullingar back deep into the visitor territory time and time again. CYM were awarded with a penalty try late in the second half bringing the score to an even 12-12 at the final whistle.

They didn't get the win they wanted, but CYM's efforts on Sunday have shown they have more than what it takes to get those wins in the future. CYM welcome Railway Union to Terenure Sports club next weekend - KO at 2:30pm.

Rathdrum RFC vs CYM RFC

November 5th, 2017

Final Score: Rathdrum RFC 24 - 5 CYM RFC

The Div 1 ladies headed to Wicklow this past weekend for their first meeting against Rathdrum this season. Rathdrum were quick to seize opportunity in the game, breaking CYM's defense and scoring within the first minutes of the game. The girls in green worked their way back into the game, pushing into Rathdrum territory. in spite of Y's efforts, Rathdrum crossed the whitewash two more times in the first half. The score stood at 19-0 at the midway point.

The home-side were slapped with a yellow card minutes into the second half, and despite the reduction in numbers CYM were unable to capitalize on the advantage. A fourth try for Rathdrum didn't deflate the ambitions of CYM, however, and a second yellow card for Rathdrum further fueled CYM's fire. Rachel Horan fought through Rathdrum's defense and scored an unconverted try for Y. The win went to Rathdrum, but CYM should be proud of their efforts none the less.

CYM welcome Mullingar to Terenure Sports Club next Sunday, November 12th.

CYM RFC vs Edenderry RFC

October 22nd, 2017

Final Score: CYM RFC 5 - 32 Edenderry RFC

The Division 1 ladies welcomed Edenderry RFC to the Terenure Sports Club grounds on Sunday. Facing each other for the first time this season, the players of each team took to the pitch with absolute determination - looking to leave a lasting impression on their opponents. Edenderry were first to put points on the board, getting back to back to back tries. It was CYMs own Lisa Brett who managed to break Edenderry's defense and score her first ever try for Y (on her birthday, too!).

The start of the second half brought high tensions and high tackles. Several Edenderry players were awarded yellow cards for repeated seat-belt tackling against CYM. Despite a hard fought game and several close attempts in Edenderry's territory, the girls in green were unable to secure the win. CYM look to take advantage of the upcoming free weekend to reset before heading to Rathdrum for their next match November 5th.

Carlow Coyotes vs CYM RFC

October 15th, 2017

Final Score: Carlow Coyotes 31 - 5 CYM RFC

The Div 1 ladies toured down to Carlow this past weekend to take on the Coyotes in their first meeting this season. It was an incredibly physical game from both sides and each team unfortunately had players taken off for injuries. Despite CYM's efforts, Carlow pulled ahead early in the game with a few fast players breaking the line and crossing the whitewash. Captain Lucy Barry managed a breakaway early in the second half, traveling almost half the pitch to secure a try for the green and purple. A win wasn't in the cards for CYM, but the ladies should be proud of their hard work. We'd like to wish speedy recoveries to those injured Carlow and CYM players, and hope to see you back on the pitch soon!

CYM RFC vs St. Marys RFC - 1st Home Match of the Season

October 1st, 2017

Final Score: CYM RFC 0 - 50 St. Marys RFC

Hard luck to our ladies who lost to St. Mary's RFC in their first home game of the season. CYM played with their hearts out from the first kick-off to the last whistle, facing a very strong opposing team in an incredibly physical game. Player of the Match is awarded to Ladies Div 1 Captain, Lucy Barry, who led the team with impressive examples of tackling and defense. The women will be working hard these upcoming two weeks, taking full advantage of the free weekend to prepare for their next match taking place on October 15th away vs Carlow Coyotes. We'd like to thank all of our dedicated supporters who came down to cheer on the girls at home.

Old Belvedere J1s RFC vs CYM RFC

September 24th, 2017

Final Score: Old Belvedere J1s 29 – 12 CYM

Hard luck to our ladies who lost to Old Belvedere Women in their second Leinster Women's Rugby Division 1 League game. CYM had a strong first half performance, leading 12 - 10. However, Belvedere pulled ahead in the second half. Final score 29-12. Plenty to build on this week ahead of the first home game of the season next Sunday, October 3rd 2017 against St. Marys RFC.

CYM Ladies Make Their Mark in Division 1

Final Score: Railway Union 13 – 29 CYM

Sunday last saw the CYM ladies first team travel the short distance to Sandymount to play their first competitive game of the 17/18 season. The last time the sides met was three years ago when Railway beat CYM in the Division 2 semi-final and subsequently went on to win the league and cement their place in Division 1. On the back of their recent success in Division 2, the CYM Ladies were ready for a bruising encounter with their old rivals.

The first 40 minutes saw the CYM ladies put to the test defensively with some strong running and line breaks from a few stand out Railway Union players. Railways attacking efforts were rewarded with an unconverted try and a penalty in front of the posts which put them into an 8-0 lead. CYM had little possession in the first half and many referee decisions went against the visiting side, allowing Railway to build their attack and cross the whitewash again leaving the score at 13-0 at the end of the first half.

The half time jolt CYM received from new coach Chris Traynor was exactly what the ladies needed and it wasn’t long before the attack began to flow. After building some phases and keeping the pace of the game where they wanted it to be with impressive offloading and support play, the CYM team’s first score came from Promise Chapwanya. The back’s speed and effective plays began to show with 2 tries coming from CYM debutant Aimee Crowe and another from Regina Lennon. Bonus point in the bag and still wanting more, player of the match Promise Chapwanya crossed the line once more after putting in a fantastic performance both in attack and defence. With Diane McIlhagga converting 2 of CYM’s 5 tries, the final score stood at 13-29 to the visitors.

CYM Ladies travel to Anglesea Road on Sunday the 24th of September for their next game v Old Belvedere, K.O 1pm.
